Specialization
The Department of Social Welfare at Hanshin University aims to nurture social welfare professionals who can intervene professionally in various problems in our society based on a systematic understanding and approach to social welfare. Students learn social welfare ethics and philosophy, social welfare practice skills, social welfare policies and theories for children, women and the elderly and practice social welfare through on the job engagement. Through this, we aim to train ‘human service professionals‘ who have knowledge of theory and practice and can prevent and address the problems of modern society and build a true welfare society.
Academic Goals
In modern society, social welfare is being developed as a social system in every area beyond the differences in country, border and system, and our country is no exception. In Korea, social welfare systems corresponding to economic development have not been established, and many social members are exposed to social risks such as mass unemployment, poverty, and family dismantling.
The Department of Social Welfare aims to train social welfare professionals who can intervene professionally in the various problems of our society based on a systematic understanding and approach to social welfare. The theory and practice of social welfare are in close connection due to the nature of the study. Professional knowledge and practical will to solve social problems are essential for establishing social welfare services and policies. In our department, students learn the theories of social welfare ethics and philosophy, social welfare practice skills, social welfare policies and theories for children, women and the elderly and develop practical abilities in the field through social welfare field practice. In addition, the curriculum and volunteer activities, which can provide a broad understanding of the studies related to social welfare, are contributing to the role of professional social workers who have both theory and practice.
