Introduction
Economics is a discipline that deals with economic problems. Economic problems are related to the production, exchange, distribution and consumption of society as a whole, and the livelihood problems of individuals.
Therefore, the discipline of economics covers a wide range of subjects, ranging from individual consumption to the cycle of the national economy as a whole. In other words, economics is a discipline that analyzes the cyclical flow between households, businesses, and nations, and presents policy alternatives. The Department of Economics in Hanshin introduced political economics as a formal subject for the first time in Korea since the Korean War and is still lecturing. Political economics is the study of the flow of the economy from the viewpoint of the equality of pursuing efficiency among the economic entities and benefit to the poor and the alienated classes. Therefore, we focus on creating alternatives that make existing society more equal.
Specialization
The Department of Economics in Hanshin University has been trying to implement the liberalism and free spirit of Hanshin as it adopted political economics as a formal subject for the first time in Korea's universities in the days of military dictatorship, where academic freedom was greatly suppressed. To this end, we run the Basic Economics Research Association and have a presentations on economic phenomena and social issues, as well as basic theories of economics, to raise students' critical perspectives of society. In addition, by running the course 'Economic Survey of Industrial Areas', students and professors visit regional businesses, regional chambers of commerce, foreign labor centers, and other labor unions in order to understand the real economy through various field experiences.

In general, graduates from the Department of Economics commonly enter general companies such as banks, securities companies, insurance companies, and trading companies and Hanshin graduates also advance in those areas. In addition, because Economics are included in various national examination and qualification examinations, it is easy to advance to government agencies, public corporations, and media organizations when compared to other majors.
