Introduction
Our philosophy major seeks to train independent, critical, and creative individuals with practical reason and sound emotion rather than simply delivering knowledge of philosophy. Therefore, our objectives are to cultivate students who seek fundamental truths of nature and principles of existence and human life, who are committed to building a more beautiful, just, and better world, who never hesitate in fighting against falsehood, injustice, self-righteousness, and violence, and who willingly dedicate themselves to universal happiness and the ideal of humankind, regardless of difficulties or hardship.
Specialization
Our philosophy major is the most abstract and intrinsic character of study, but it is formed by the transparent recognition of the fact that the abstract and difficult philosophical concepts and problems themselves stem from fierce anxieties about reality. In this sense, the universality of philosophy is indistinguishable from the concrete conception based on reality. Our philosophy major fosters students who practice 'philosophy' on the earth as a reality in history by combining concrete and practical problematic consciousness in mutual virtuous relationship and universal philosophical ideology.
