Major of German Language & Literature

Introduction

Major of German Language and Literature aims to develop knowledge of humanities through the study of German literature and culture, which are pillars of world culture as well as to advance to international society by understanding advanced culture. In addition, the Major of German Language and Literature introduces the German culture, arts, and cultural industries through the use of the German language and has the ultimate goal of contributing to international relations while at the same time being responsible for life long education for students.

Specialization

As the international status of Germany increases, the attention to the German language is also increasing. Our major aims to nurture specialists and masters in the special field through cultivating the linguistic ability to fit in this global era beyond the existing German language and literature research. This includes students' social advancement through the Korean reception of German culture and cultural industries representing European culture.

Academic Goals

The Major of German Language and Literature is based on the educational philosophy of Hanshin University: truth, love and freedom. Through all the literary works written in the German language and academic studies on the German language, first, students are taught the humanities through humanities education. Second, it aims to cultivate the qualities of the citizens of the world with the utilization of German language. Third, it aims to nurture professionals who introduce European and German culture to Korea and acts as a mediator of both cultures.

The Major of German Language and Literature aims to nurture professionals in the world who predict the future in a rapidly changing world and actively think and act. In addition, we cultivate future oriented talent who think of both the world and the environment through creative and diverse thinking.
