Introduction
Sociology is the most extensive study in social sciences and is closely connected with social phenomena. Therefore, sociology is called comprehensive study. It covers a broad range of areas such as politics, economy, society, and culture allowing comprehensive thinking and recognition and a more complete and substantial understanding of society.
The academic demands of sociology are more progressive and fundamental in Hanshin University. We analyze the patterns of pain, its causes and consequences in order to reduce the personal and social pain that occurs in human society and work to end it. We also work toward the design and realization of a temporal desire that arises from that suffering, that is, a social utopia that is neither forced nor exploited.
Specialization
Through the curriculum, Hansin Department of Sociology focuses on the following aspects.
First, students will learn basic concepts and various theories about social structure and human interaction, and to gain a conceptual understanding of social phenomena through the acquisition of these theories.
Second, it is necessary to acquire sociology methodology for objective interpretation of social phenomena. This trains people to understand the relationship between human and society in real world of experience. Because social phenomena are so wide and diverse that it is difficult to understand them if you do not have the right framework or tools to hold them, qualitative and quantitative methodologies and other courses will provide you with a lens to help you get a better understanding.
Third, comprehensive study of various social phenomena -[politics, economy, law, culture, education and other areas will help us to identify problems in our society and seek alternatives to social reform and development through sound criticism. The spirit of criticism as a prerequisite for the establishment of a democratic society and a healthy civil society can be fostered through critical inquiry into various theories and participation in the world of experience.
Academic Goals
Sociology is a broad discipline that conducts multifaceted research on social phenomena.
At the level of analysis, it is a study that can be explored while looking at various possibilities in the real world from the individual to the group, to the organization, to the system, to the policy, to the ideological position, and to the practical level, from the social activist to the politician, journalist, and analyst.
In addition, sociology has contributed to social reform when society is confused by various historical situations, when society is full of absurdity and injustice, to restore social order.
Based on the history of this sociological development, Hanshin Sociology will provide a precise analysis of the social phenomena in which we are living, as well as a sharp criticism of the phenomenon, so that the students will be able to understand their identity as a healthy citizen, professional, and train practical members of civil society. In addition, through the realization of these various roles of human beings, they can contribute to the development and reform of Korean society.
