Spirit of inspiration and resistance, our great teacher - Kim Jae-Jun |
|
| Half a century ago, when Protestant churches in Korea were in decline, Dr. Kim Jae-Jun carried the torch for the restoration of divinity. By adopting a new trend of divinity at Hanshin University, he opened up a new Christian age in Korea that was based on the viewpoint of promoting the general good. He laid the foundations for progressive divinity,in korea which emphasized the future while facing the realities of today. He was a great teacher who shared the pains of those days with all and took the lead to fight against darkness. He is the cornerstone of the spirit of Hanshin University, which proclaims progress and practice as its foundation. |

'The light of our nation, a free spirit that will never die out' - Jang Jun-ha |
|
"You will know that I have successfully escaped when you read the word 'Dol-begae' in my letter." These are the words Mr. Jang Jun-ha left his wife before he was dragged to the army as a Japanese soldier under the rule of Japanese imperialism. He kept his word and came back to his nation, enduring a journey of 2400 km.
His journey to save the nation did not stop there. He became the representative of 'Sasanggae', fought against the 'Yushin dictatorship', and participated in other nationalistic activities.
Although his life ended in a suspicious death, his will to walk the road less traveled with the poor continues today, embodied in the sporot of Hanshin University. |

'A bright mind on a pilgrimage to unification' - Reverend Moon Ik-hwan |
|
Years have passed during our devotion and prayers for unification, the day when the South and North will come together. Rev. Moon was always among the leaders in the movement of heroic efforts. He was there with oppressed people and sang the songs of love and freedom. He gladly took the thorny path, a pilgrimage to unification. This path, which will bring reconciliation and love in place of disintegration and hatred, is the path that Hanshin will continue to take. |
|
| |
The reason that national pioneers in the academic field chose Hanshin as their foundation was because of its academic tradition which cherished justice and truth.
Our educational philosophy is to pursue truth, liberty, and love. We, at Hanshin, proudly characterize this as Hanshinism, the character of Hanshin. |
